Master Kit for 65-66 Mustang (Power Brakes & Cable Clutch System) Adjustable Cable Stop for an All Wheel Disc Brake Car
Don't forget to order:
Exclusive Features of the MustangSteve Power Brake Conversion:
Revised Pedal Ratio: Reduced pedal travel for a modern feel (~2" with front discs, ~1" with four-wheel discs).
Additional Firewall Bracing: Welded to the pedal support to prevent firewall cracking around the booster mount.
9" Diameter Booster: Superior performance that won’t fade under repeated stops; easy access to replacement parts.
Factory Fit and Appearance: Better fit and function compared to the original 65-66 booster.
Dual Piston Master Cylinder Compatibility: No clearance issues; original boosters won't clear.
Brake Light Switch: New design avoids contact with the steering column, eliminating the need for dents.
All Wheel Disc Master Cylinder: Included.
Adjustable Proportioning Valve: Included.
Clutch Pedal Modification: This kit allows for a later model quadrant setup for cable-operated clutches, ideal for T-5 or Tremec transmissions.
Advantages of the Welded Quadrant Kit:
- Durable construction that won’t loosen over time.
- No small parts to wear out or break.
- Constant radius cable pull for straight alignment.
- Direct force transfer to the cable, eliminating twisting.
- Cost-effective for DIY installation.
Compatibility: Works with MustangSteve Power Brake Booster and Ball Bearing Clutch Pedal Shaft conversions, reducing clutch chatter.
Installation Note: Requires removal of the clutch pedal and pedal support. The conversion provides long-lasting service and easy cable replacement.
Clutch Requirement: Later model 10" or 10-1/2" diaphragm type clutch needed (e.g., Ford Racing King Cobra).
Toploader or T10 Transmission: For original Mustang standard transmissions, some fabrication is required, including a cable-type release arm and new pivot bolt (fulcrum). Additional welding and threading of the bellhousing is necessary.

**Frequently Asked Questions:**
1. Will it fit my 4-wheel disc brakes?
Yes, the kit fits any combination of drum or disc brakes. Instructions specify the master cylinder needed and it also fits any original 65-73 master cylinder.
2. What about Falcon and Ranchero?
Yes, with some extra work, it can fit these models, though not as easily as the 65-66. The 60-63 Falcon requires the original style master cylinder or a Shelby style export brace with a tandem master.
3. Will the tandem master cylinder clear the shock tower?
Yes, it clears by about 2 inches and does not interfere with the export brace, except on early Falcons and Comets where the dual piston may need a Shelby style export brace.
4. Will it fit a 351W with Heddman headers?
Yes, it clears without issues, although you may need to remove the header for installation.
5. Why won't it fit my car with the original manual transmission?
The clutch actuation rod interferes with the booster stud attachment point. However, it works with a T5 or Tremec transmission using a MustangSteve cable actuated clutch.
