Description

This bracket kit (Wilwood or Helix-style) converts Mustang II or Heidt's 2" Drop disc brake spindles to run 1994-2004 Cobra calipers with 13" rotors, or 2015-present GT Performance Pack six-piston Brembo calipers with 15" rotors. It fits 64-1/2 to 73 Mustangs and other Fords using a similar spindle.

Fitment

17" wheels are typically required for the Cobra setup; 19" wheels are typically required for the GT Performance Pack six-piston Brembo setup. American Racing Torque Thrust II 17" wheels will require a thin spacer on front Cobra or GT calipers. The bracket kits use V8 drum brake hubs from a 65-73 Mustang or midsize Ford/Mercury, along with Mustang II bearings and seals.

Q: What's the difference between the Wilwood and Helix spindle bracket options?

The brackets are spindle-specific, so which one you need depends on your exact spindle. Wilwood Pro Drop spindles use a Wilwood-spec bracket, and Helix Pro Touring spindles use their own Helix-spec bracket - the two are not interchangeable. Tell us which spindle brand/model you have (and which caliper - Cobra or Brembo - you're running) so we can confirm and send the correct bracket.

Q: Can I run Cobra brakes and later upgrade to Brembo calipers on the same spindle?

It depends on your spindle and bracket - some combinations support both Cobra and Brembo calipers, but not all do. Confirm with us which caliper you plan to run (now or later) and which spindle you have so we can make sure you get a bracket that supports the upgrade path you want.

Q: Do I need to buy the Mustang II spindle separately from this kit?

Yes - this kit is the brake conversion bracket only; you'll need to already have, or separately source, the Wilwood or Helix Mustang II-style spindle it bolts to.
