Description

Upgrade your 1965–1973 Ford Mustang with a 15-inch Shelby GT500 Front Disc Brake Conversion Kit, designed to adapt the high-performance 2013–2014 Shelby GT500 (S197) braking system to your classic Mustang. It bolts to the original drum brake spindles, so no spindle removal or front-end alignment is necessary, and track width and wheel backspacing remain unchanged.

Benefits:

  • CAD-designed 3/8" steel caliper brackets bolt directly to original drum brake spindles with no spindle removal
  • Installs 2013-14 GT500 Shelby 15" rotors and calipers while keeping stock track width and wheel backspacing
  • Requires at least 19" wheels; American Racing Torque Thrust II wheels will not clear the calipers

What's Included:

  • Custom caliper mounting brackets
  • Grade 8 fitted bracket bolt kit
  • Caliper mounting bolts with flanged head
  • Rotor hub-centric ring

Questions & Answers
Q: What wheel size do I need for the 15" GT500 rotor?

Plan on at least 19" wheels - the 15" GT500-spec rotor and six-piston Brembo caliper need significantly more clearance than the smaller Cobra/GT brake options, and American Racing Torque Thrust II wheels specifically will not clear the calipers.

Q: Do the GT500 brake components bolt straight onto the bracket?

The GT500 Brembo caliper mounts using the same bracket geometry as our 13.2" GT bracket, but the Brembo caliper's larger pistons are a tighter fit - some owners need to grind minor clearance on the bracket for the caliper body to clear.

Q: Do I need to source the GT500 brake hardware separately?

Yes - this kit includes the caliper mounting brackets only; you'll need the 2013-2014 GT500 caliper, rotor, and pads from a donor car or aftermarket supplier.
