Fitment

All 65-73 Mustang and Mustang II 8" and 9" rear ends use small bearings; Versailles 9" uses large bearings. This kit is designed for 8" or 9" small rear bearing (2.835" diameter) or 9"/8.8" large rear bearing (3.150"/2.840" diameter) axles.

Questions & Answers
Q: Will this fit my 8" or 9" rear end?

Yes - this kit is designed for Ford 8" and 9" axles under 65-73 Mustangs and Mustang II applications. It comes in two bracket versions: Cobra-RSM for small-bearing (2.835" diameter) 8"/9" housings, and Cobra-RLG for large-bearing (3.150" diameter) 9"/8.8" housings, including Versailles-style rear ends - so be sure to select the bracket that matches your axle's bearing size.

Q: What do I do about the parking brake cable?

You'll need to adapt or source an e-brake cable to work with the Cobra caliper's integrated parking brake mechanism. The instructions call for 1994-2004 Cobra-style e-brake cables, overlapped with your existing cable and clamped in place; many builders reuse or modify a factory 94-2004 Cobra cable this way or fabricate a bracket for their factory cable routing.

Q: Do I need a different master cylinder for the rear discs?

If your car is currently disc-front/drum-rear, switching to 4-wheel disc means you'll want a 4-wheel-disc-specific master cylinder and an adjustable proportioning valve to properly balance front/rear bias.
