This is an adapter bushing, sold individually, that lets tie rods from 64-1/2 to 66 Mustangs and 60-65 Falcons and Comets (except 1963) fit into 1975-80 Granada, Monarch, and Versailles spindles. It works with both six-cylinder and V8 tie rods.

64-66 Falcons may use the same tie rod as a 65-66 Mustang, or the larger 67-size tie rod — verify which you have before ordering. 1963 Falcons use the same tie rod as a Granada. Confirm your spindles before ordering: if the rotor is 1" thick or thicker, they are not Granada or Versailles spindles — some 1975-79 LTD II and Cougar spindles look similar but will not fit any Mustang or Cougar from 1964-1/2 to 1973. Genuine Granada and Versailles rotors are 0.875" thick with a 0.810" minimum. 65-66 Mustangs with V-8 and power steering use a unique driver-side outer tie rod that cannot be replaced with a later-model tie rod when installing disc brakes. Six-cylinder Mustangs use a smaller outer tie rod that does not fit larger disc brake spindles; this bushing lets the factory outer tie rod fit the disc brake spindle with no further modification. Also fits Falcons, Cougars, and other small Fords of the era using similar-sized tie rods.

Q: Why would I do this spindle swap instead of keeping my stock 64-66 spindles?

The 75-80 Granada/Monarch spindle is a common swap target because it accepts a larger factory disc brake package than the early Mustang/Falcon spindle can carry. Because the early tie rod taper doesn't match the Granada spindle's tie rod hole, this bushing lets you reuse your existing correctly-valved tie rod instead of sourcing Granada-specific tie rods.
